The Journey Begins My journey with finding an Assisted Living Community for Mom started in January of 2009 when she fell at her home. Fortunately she sustained minor injuries but it opened my eyes to how she was really living. At the time I was able to have someone come into her home for 3 hours 5 days a week to help her with light cleaning, getting in and out of the shower and running errands. As you can imagine that was a total waste of funds! You know how stubborn Mom could be and she would tell the aide not to clean, wash or do anything so nothing was done. However, it underscored the reality that she needed to be in an assisted living community and could no longer live by herself. Since my job takes me out of town on a weekly basis I needed to know Mom would be safe and she was no longer safe by herself.

"Last October my mother began experiencing some health issues that required hospitalization for several weeks followed by restorative care that we hoped would allow her to return home. By December, it was apparent that she would need extended care during rehabilitation and that placement would be required for her to regain her previous level of independence.

As I researched several facilities, I explored location, cost and quality of care as primary indicators of where I wanted to place her. It was at this point that I became aware of Jenni Lynn as a possible and most suitable placement. In early December, I came to visit and discuss options for placement. When I entered, a friendly and welcoming atmosphere met me and I was immediately greeted and directed to your office for information and a tour.

Though I had no formal appointment, you took time to speak with me and provided a tour. As you greeted staff and residents, it was evident that everyone knew you by "Kelli". A number of organized activities were underway; the facility was neat and organized and had a pervasive family atmosphere. It was like home.

Without question, I knew then that I wanted my mother under your care. The combination of your compassion and the strong presence of a caring environment were the selling points.

As eldercare has become a companion to many families, it is refreshing to know that the individual is the priority at Jenni Lynn, Unfortunately, my mom never got to experience life at Jenni Lynn, but I did and would not hesitate to refer it to others."
