Dear Mr. Sehrgosha,

My mother has been a resident at Ivy Hall Premier Senior Living for the past year. She enjoys living in a community that surrounds her with close friends and attentive staff who carefully attend to her needs at this time of her life. Each plays an important role in transforming Ivy Hall into a welcoming home for her. She is ecstatic with her situation. You perhaps know best of all that providing a home for senior citizens is not easy.

I am writing this letter expressing my appreciation for Mom’s warm, enriched circumstance at Ivy Hall. I visit my mother nearly every day and have closely observed the dynamics of resident/staff interactions.

Please allow me to commend your executive director, Michael Patterson, for the amazing job he does. Not only does he attend to the mechanics of running the building and a diverse staff, but he finds time to host the many family member and professionals who frequent Ivy Hall. All are welcomed by name and asked whether he can help them in any way. I have never encountered anyone in a position such as his that is more focused on ensuring each person who enters Ivy Hall has a positive experience and leaves smiling and saying “Wow.”

Staff members smile when they see Michael coming. They also model his style of interacting with people. Let me tell you that visitors and residents appreciate this. His warmth was the first thing I noticed when I previewed Ivy Hall as a potential home for my mom. The efficiency and skill shown by everyone here is what allows me to trust that mom is in good hands. Thank you for having the wisdom to place him in my mother’s life.

Hello Michael,

I am finally home in Asheville and want to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your help with my parents. From the moment we first met you, we have been impressed with your authenticity. You spoke like a real person and not a businessman to my parents. You took your time so they could comprehend the contract and the benefits of living at Ivy Hall. They enjoyed your humor in an otherwise tense situation. We all appreciated your responsiveness to our questions and concerns.

We are also particularly pleased about the quality of your staff. They seem happy to be at work. In fact, a home health caregiver for my parents, who also worked for you before they decided to make the move to Ivy Hall, commented that you had made such a difference that all the employees liked coming to work. That is certainly an accolade!!!

We like seeing that you walk around the facility throughout the day and like it that you are accessible if you are in your office. We also like what you have done to improve the gardening on the grounds. The view of the pond is much nicer!

My parents are very happy with their choice of residences. My sisters, brother and I are very satisfied to have found a place for our parents that is as lovely and loving as Ivy hall.

Very Sincerely,

Kathleen Mack
(On behalf of the whole Mack Family)

Dear Michael,

It is known that people are quick to complain but slow to praise those of you who provide service to others. We sincerely apologize for our family falling into this category. Although we have been through several life and death traumas since your arrival, we have noticed your changes and improvements in our family's home. From the physical changes--cutting overgrown shrubs, cleaning the place from top to bottom, giving the public areas a facelift for a more pleasing and less institutional feel--to the more subtle emotional improvements are so very appreciated. Your sincere concern for thse who live at Ivy Hall is obvious. A corporation may be able to pay for physical changes, but an ED who can accomplish both aspects of the position is very rare and should be acknowledged.

We are so very grateful for all of your support during our father's death in April. We feel that your arrival was God's blessing to our family to soften his passing.

We know that the obstacles, frustrations, and headaches with your position must be numerous. Please know that everything you have done and continue to do are greatly appreciated.

Most Sincerely,

God Bless

Dave and Ann French

I just wanted to thank you for all your support that you have given me and my mother, Floria Crowell. As you know, when she came to stay with me in November from Massachusetts, I had no idea of the journey we would go on.

I was so thankful to find Ivy Hall while she was in rehab after her hospital stay in Nov. She became a resident the week after the Christmas party so we missed that but I was so impressed with all the decorations and preparations.

From the beginning, everyone was so nice and friendly and the facility was so well cared for. Since you have taken over, I have been even more impressed. The extra training and improvements in communication for staff and families is really great. The activities are now so well managed that someone could be busy from morning til night if they wanted. We both really enjoyed the Mother's Day luncheon so much.

You take an active interest in each resident and while you are extremely professional, your kindness and caring really shows. I am so glad to have you an your excellent staff to rely on through this journey and challenges with my mother.

I could go on and on with how happy I am with you and Ivy Hall but I just wanted to say thank you and to let you know that I am more than happy to be a reference anytime you need one.

Thank you again for everything,

Testimonials from Sally

"When our mother Marie arrived in Atlanta, she was suffering malnutrition, disorientation and put in unfamiliar surroundings. How do you turn that around? You and your staff turned all of that around. She gained weight, made friends and jumped back into life. A special thanks to the Chef and all of those who made her feel like family. They made her feel special. I thank you and your team for giving those intangibles that gave my mother and the family such good years together."

"The care Wally received during his stay at Ivy Hall was absolutely beyond anything I could have hoped for. Absolutely everyone associated with Ivy Hall in any capacity was loving, caring and superlative!"
