Testimonial from Catherine W. Griffin (PDF)

My mother is a resident at Sandpiper and I feel very compelled to brag on the staff at Sandpiper, not one or two but everyone. During Hurricane Matthew residents were relocated for a few days and we could not have asked for better treatment considering the situation. Recently my mom lost a 17 year old grandchild that came to see her on a regular basis at Sandpiper so the staff knew her. I live 2 hours away and contacted the staff to ask for help not letting my mother know about the loss until I could get there. The staff looked out for my mother until I arrived and then one at a time came by to provide their condolences. These are only 2 events out of many where the Sandpiper staff has shown their excellence with caring for my mother. Premier can stand proud of the staff at Sandpiper. Many heartfelt thanks to all. My mother loves being taken care of by people who care.

thank you

Our father, Harvey All, is currently a resident at Sandpiper Courtyard in Mt. Pleasant. We selected the Courtyard because we were so pleased with the staff and facility at The Village, where he and our mother had previously resided. My mother and father were also in rehab at Sandpiper Rehab and Nursing and we loved the staff in that unit. All of the Sandpiper staff have been wonderful, kind, and caring, and are extremely competent at their jobs.

We are writing to express our gratitude to the staff of the Courtyard who evacuated our father during Hurricane Matthew. We could not be more pleased with the manner in which the evacuation was handled from the preparation to the return back home. Tyler should be commended for his excellent leadership, ensuring that each resident had their individual needs met. He went way above the call of duty, spending 5 days with the residents in Columbia taking care of these elderly, scared residents, making them comfortable in their makeshift home. In the words of my father, "Tyler took care of me....even helping me with my hearing aids." We cannot imagine the countless hours he and the staff worked, but they were right back at work this week. Tyler obviously has a gift of leadership and a genuine caring spirit, a combination that makes him excellent at his job. Since he became the director of the Courtyard, we have been so pleased with personalized attention he gives each resident and his willingness to do "whatever it takes" to get the job done.

In addition to Tyler and other staff members, Julius, the facilities manager is excellent at his job! Julius never stands still, always looking for ways to make the facility clean and safe for the residents. He is responsive to every request and goes way beyond the "call of duty." During the evacuation, my father said that "Julius took care of anything I needed. He was always right there and even helped me dress in the mornings." Our cousins, who live in Columbia, visited my father in Columbia and commented that Julius was taking excellent care of him. Julius cares for the residents and the facility as if it was his own house and his own family.

We are so grateful that we were able to rely on the staff of Sandpiper to ensure the safety and care of our father since we were unable to have him with us during the storm. We are also grateful that these staff members were willing to leave their families and homes to care for our father and other residents. I hope you are aware of the "gems" you have working at Sandpiper. It is what sets Sandpiper apart from the other senior care facilities in the area and why we selected it as a home for our father.

Thank you for hiring these excellent staff members and for allowing them to excel at their job. The entire care team is wonderful!

If there is ever anything we can ever do to assist you, please don't hesitate to ask. We owe a debt of gratitude to Sandpiper for providing such excellent care to both of our parents. We have always felt that we are a part of the Sandpiper family.

Mr. Hadley:

It is my pleasure to tell you of my experience with Tyler Mikell. From my first contact with him and all subsequent contacts, he has been very responsive, courteous and helpful. It was our,( my wife and I) intent to move my Mother from Heartland Rehab to Sandpiper Courtyard, Tyler made the process smooth. Unfortunately my Mother's condition had declined since Tyler's assessment. It was apparent immediately the she needed to be in a nursing facility; furthermore, my Mother is now on oxygen and the oxygen supply company failed to deliver her oxygen prior to her arrival. Tyler and his associate sprung into warp drive to obtain temporary oxygen for her and assisted in having her admitted to Sandpiper Rehab and Nursing and he helped us move my Mom and her possessions.

The next day I tried to reach Sandpiper Rehab by telephone for several hours and 18 attempts but the line was always busy. Naturally I contacted my go to guy, Tyler, who answered on the first ring. He advised that I was calling the general number and provided me with the phone numbers for the nursing station in my Mother's, the wing,.the Nursing supervisor and the admissions director Kay Drummond.

Tyler Mikell is a pleasure to work with and Sandpiper is fortunately to have him on board.

"We want to relate our pleasure in moving my mother from Sandpiper Village to Sandpiper Courtyard. Like many other relatives, we had a decision to make for my 98 year old Mother, who had been at Sandpiper Village since 1994, and needed additional help as she aged. I had visited the Courtyard with my brothers, and talked to Sheena Janse about the facilities and was given a tour. Sheena took the time to answer our questions and explain what Mom would receive and how much it would cost. We decided to make the move, and like most people Helen was resistant to change. She was happy living at the residence, and wasn’t thinking positively about the move. We took Mom over to see the Courtyard, and began to talk it up to her, emphasizing the positive. When it was time to move, we moved her furniture over to her new room, I stayed with Mom at her residence until everything going over was set up. I then took Mom to the Courtyard to see her new room. It was just after five in the evening when we arrived, and Mom had not had dinner. So when we walked in, I talked to the first employee I saw, mentioning that Mom was moving over and asked if it was possible for Mom to get something to eat? The employee said, “is that Mrs. Ciucci?” That made both Mom’s day and mine! The employee guided Mom to a table, obviously already the planned table for her. At the table was one of her oldest friends from the residency, and they began talking like it was just yesterday they had last seen each other, instead of years. Sue and I just want you to know what an excellent job Sheena did in making sure Mom’s room was ready, and her employees knew Mom was coming and met her with courtesy and a smile. The move couldn’t have gone smoother, and as a result, Mom is happy in the Courtyard. We had constant contact with Sheena during which time she answered our questions competently and immediately, she couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. She is a wonderful asset to your company!"
